Dr. Carbonaro was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey, and went to Holy Cross High School in Delran, New Jersey. He received a BS in Biology from Rutgers University, Cook College, in New Brunswick, NJ. He received his Doctor of Medicine degreee from UMDNJ in Newark, NJ, in 1996. He then studied internal medicine at Yale University Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, followed by his dermatology training at the University of Massachusetts.

He has been in private practice since 2000, and his solo practice, Family Dermatology, was opened in the summer of 2006.
